The final event of the HD-MOTION project took place on September 17, 2026, at the Confindustria Rome headquarters (Viale dell'Astronomia 30), focusing on the results of the national sustainable mobility hub coordinated by CIM4.0 and funded by MIMIT. During the meeting, it was announced that the project's legacy would be integrated into the new European hub, MOBILITALIA.

When resources come together with expertise, technology, and a network capable of connecting and leveraging them effectively, funding becomes tangible innovation.

This was one of the key messages to emerge from the final event of HD-MOTION – Digital Mobility Transformation Hub, held in Rome at the Pininfarina Hall of Confindustria.

Together with Matteo Bandiera, HD-MOTION Program Manager, and CIM Competenze per Industria e Manifattura, we demonstrated how technology transfer to businesses can go beyond the traditional approach to public funding and incentives.

It is not simply about providing financial resources, but about building an ecosystem capable of supporting companies in identifying the right technologies, experimenting with new solutions, developing the necessary skills, and progressively integrating them into processes and products.

The numbers speak for themselves: 164 beneficiaries supported, including 141 SMEs, €5.97 million in services delivered, and €5.12 million in grants utilized — reaching a 97% utilization rate of the available resources.

During the event, we also shared several particularly representative experiences:

  • Mauro Giancaspro – ANAS, “Digital skills for the mobility of the future. ANAS’ experience with HD-MOTION services”;

  • Ruggero Maffei – Bus4Fun, presenting the use of AI to innovate and automate the management of fares, quotations, and travel services;

  • Vito Mastrodonato – Ferrotramviaria S.p.A., “The Moova-SEM supervision platform for monitoring metropolitan stations along the FM1 Bari–San Paolo line”;

  • Giorgio Strata – IVECO Group, “Innovation happens in between. Between an idea and its implementation, there is always a network of connections”;

  • Gioele Blanc – REVO, “Managing the safety of hauliers accessing the facility. REVO and HD-MOTION to design the business model for a new digital product.”

A particularly significant contribution came from Marco Calabrò, Head of the Department for Business Policies at MIMIT, who supported the initiative and highlighted the principle of rewarding those who demonstrate a concrete ability to use resources effectively and generate impact. In this context, he recognized the work carried out by CIM4.0 through HD-MOTION.

The discussion then broadened to industrial policy with the round table “Public Policies Supporting Businesses”, featuring Raffaele Spallone – MIMIT, Fabrizio Cobis – Ministry of University and Research, Enrico Pisino – President of the Transport Cluster and CEO of CIM, and Francesca Subbioni – Institutional Relations, ANFIA.

The event was coordinated and moderated by Massimo De Donato, journalist and Radio 24 host.

But the network we have built does not stop here.

In the first quarter of 2027, MOBILITAL.IA – The Italian Artificial Intelligence Hub for Mobility, European Digital Innovation Hub, is expected to launch.

Stay tuned!
